Synthetic Biology for Clinical and Technological Innovation (SynCTI)

One research fellow position is available in the Synthetic Biology for Clinical and Technological Innovation (SynCTI) at the National University of Singapore. Our research is focused on niche areas such as repurposing novel microbial strains, understanding the impact of microbial communities on human health leading to therapeutic interventions and synthetic yeast genomics.

We seek highly motivated individuals who are looking to be a part of our state of the art Biofoundry. Our BioFoundry is an integrated facility based on the concept of Design-Build-Test-Learn, and is heavily automated to perform routine as well as specialized tasks in a high-throughput manner to support our scientists in accelerating their research outcome.

Successful candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree and demonstrate a sound experimental background in biotechnology, molecular biology, biological science, biochemistry, and chemistry. The candidate should have competitive publications as the first author in peer-reviewed journals and be able to communicate and work with collaborators mainly students, postdocs, and faculty.

Specific skills that are required include experience in using biofoundry equipment such as liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, bioreactor, liquid handling system, in vitro and in vivo high-throughput analytic systems. The candidate is required to be motivated to learn new analytic skillsets and optimize methods to generate workflow along with data analysis. In addition to this, having good knowledge of analytical softwares used for biofoundry equipment along with strong background in analytics based on omics, automation, or scripting will be considered as an advantage. The job scope also includes providing administrative support to operate and maintain the Biofoundry, such as coordinating the use of biofoundry equipment, handling biofoundry-related paperwork, training users in specified systems and other day to day operations of the biofoundry.
